LeBron James flies flag in torrential rain as fans compare ‘majestic’ look to George Washington crossing the Delaware

LEBRON James raised the American flag in pouring rain while on a boat with his fellow US Olympians – and fans joked about the image on social media.

LeBron was seen raising the US flag as the boat went down the river, landing at the Trocadéro, near the Eiffel Tower.

And it’s safe to say that fans were amused by the image.

X users noted that the Los Angeles Lakers icon’s look reminded them of the legendary painting of George Washington riding with his troops as he crossed the Delaware Rio in 1776.

“I’m telling my kids it was George Washington crossing the Delaware,” one fan commented.

“This is giving George Washington Delaware vibes,” wrote another.

Others were impressed with LeBron’s flag-bearer’s performance in the pouring rain.

“Possibly the most majestic clip to ever hit television: LeBron with the American flag in the pouring rain,” added one fan.

“I love this,” said a fourth.

LeBron rocked sunglasses and a white Ralph Lauren jacket for the special occasion.

The 39-year-old wasn’t the only US Olympic flag bearer.

Tennis star Coco Gauff was also given the tremendous task.

The Paris Olympics will be LeBron’s fourth time competing in the legendary games.

“I think what’s different is always a new experience: a new group, guys – some guys have never been an Olympian before, so you want them to see the whole moment of being here in Paris,” LeBron told Team USA at the boat.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to continue to inspire the next generation and I’m super excited to be here.

“I participated in the Athens games, the Beijing games, the London games and now the Paris games, and they are always special in their own right.

“We are in 2024 and it is another special moment, not only for this country in France but also for us, other Olympic athletes, who are here competing for the United States of America.”
