GOOD Morning Football presenter Akbar Gbajabiamila has nailed a Michael Jordan impression.
The former NFL star is one of two new faces on the revamped show alongside reporter Sherree Burruss.
Co-host Kyle Brandt brought up Jordan’s infamous courtside entrance when introduced by the Chicago Bulls announcer.
And Gbajabiamila was happy to do his best version on yesterday’s program.
Fans rushed to social media to praise his effort.
“Nailed it,” commented one.
“10/10,” added another.
“LOVE THE STUDIO, LOVE YOU, SO HAPPY THAT @GMFB IS BACK HERE FOR A GREAT SEASON, GUYS,” posted a very excited third.
Gbajabiamila was shocked by the amount of sporting knowledge his co-host Peter Schrager had on Wednesday morning.
The two sat down with Brandt and Jamie Erdahl to discuss the Minnesota Vikings quarterback situation, but Gbajabiamila abruptly interrupted the conversation.
“Are you related to Google?” Gbajabiamila Schrager asked..
“Because you literally spit things out, like, yeah, I remember in 2002 it was 6:45 p.m.
“Like, how do you know this, bro?”
Schrager joked with Gbajabiamila that his knowledge was the reason he was sitting at the table.
Season 1 Gbajabiamila is the traditional fourth person at the GMFB table alongside co-hosts Erdahl, Brandt and Schrager in their new studio in Los Angeles.
The new dawn of GMFB
The relaunch and return of Good Morning Football on July 29 was confirmed by NFL Network to coincide with training camp.
The morning show went off the air in March before a big change and move to Los Angeles.
Jamie Erdahl moved from New York cross-country to continue leading the show.
Her former partners Kyle Brandt and Peter Schrager will join her, but will split their time between New York and Los Angeles.
Sherree Burruss and Akbar Gbajabiamila have been confirmed as new additions to the revamped show.
And the American Ninja Warrior host returns to NFL Network, where he excelled as an analyst from 2012-19.
The former San Diego State defensive end went undrafted in 2003 but signed a free agent contract with the Oakland Raiders.
After two solid seasons, he was released by the Raiders after a series of injuries.
During his time in the NFL, he was selected as one of the league’s first athletes for the Broadcast Boot Camp.
He was part of a group of 20 players who took a crash course in broadcast journalism.
Upon retiring, the Los Angeles native served as an analyst for the Mountain Network and CBS Sports Network for two years.
Gbajabiamila tries to model his screen presence on Michael Strahan, an NFL Hall of Famer who also went into broadcast journalism.
The GMFB host called Strahan “the model for transitioning athletes into the media.”
