And the Birmingham fighter walked away with the belt after five terrifying rounds that left both men on the ground.

But Tierney took the decision and the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship belt.

And he had the battle scars to prove it after leaving the hospital with both eyes terribly swollen and cut.

His thriller was acclaimed by UFC legend Conor McGregor – who is co-owner of BKFC.

McGregor posted online: “WHAT A FIGHT!”

The Irishman himself even suggested moving from the cage to the ring to fight with his fists exposed.

McGregor, 36, said: “For me, I still have some business left with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, two fights left on my contract.

“But we definitely have three lightweights here and I’m keeping an eye on all of that.

“I’m not just here as a connoisseur, player-coach, I would call myself that.”

McGregor was scheduled to return on June 29 against Michael Chandler, 38, but was forced to withdraw due to a foot injury.

The UFC is believed to be eyeing a December date to reschedule McGregor’s comeback fight.
