A proposal by CHOQUE to increase the number of judges scoring Tyson Fury’s clash with Oleksandr Usyk was rejected.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman made a stunning call for the number of ringside officials to be increased from three to SIX earlier this year.

The head of the Mexican sanctioning body has demanded the addition of more judges to ensure next month’s undisputed title fight is not ruined by a dubious scoreline.

And he went so far as to issue an “emergency petition” to everyone involved.

But the proposal was rejected due to fears of possible teething problems that would mar the biggest heavyweight fight in almost 25 years.

Fury co-promoter Bob Arum said Boxing Scene: “You don’t put something like this on for the first time dealing with a big fight from the point of view of visibility and importance.

“Maybe six judges are better than three. I doubt it, but maybe.

“Nobody knows because it hasn’t been done yet.

“But at least you experience it in fights that aren’t as prominent.”

Arum, 92, is not completely against the idea, but believes it should be tested in a fight of a significantly smaller magnitude.

TYSON FURY VS OLEKSANDR USYK: ALL THE DETAILS YOU NEED BEFORE A HUGE UNDISPUTABLE HEAVYWEIGHT FIGHT

He said: “With all due respect to my friend Mauricio – who is a really nice guy.

“[He] loves boxing and has done a great job with the WBC – I wouldn’t do that for this fight.

“I don’t believe the judging gets better because you have six judges instead of three.”

The winner of Fury vs. Usyk will be crowned the first undisputed heavyweight champion in almost 25 years, a title the former believes he will win with ease.

He said: “If I didn’t train one day for this fight and I weighed 25 kilos and drank 15 liters of Peroni the night before, I would still beat him next day.

“What would he do, just attack me and poke me?

“I would need at least 15 liters of Peroni for a proper ding dong.”
