They fought twice at the UFC base in Las Vegas, for eight and then 12 rounds, but it was marred by controversy.

And it was the second of the session that was infamously remembered, as images and footage of the spar were leaked.

It included a disputed knockout of Malignaggi, which caused the American to leave camp.

The two have continued to feud since then and McGregor took the opportunity to attack his former rival.

Malignaggi was performing for the BYB boxing promotion when McGregor spoke.

He said, “You got kicked out of the gym, you idiot. He got kicked out of the gym. He got kicked out of Showtime.

“You’re hired, boy. Behave yourself. Put a can of stout in his nut! Put a can of Forged Irish Stout in his nut! And two bottles of whiskey in his ears!”

Malignaggi – who lost his Showtime commentary role in 2020 – retired from boxing in 2017.

But he fought McGregor’s former training partner Artem Lobov, 37, in a close-quarters fight in 2019, which he lost on points.

Meanwhile, McGregor, 35, has not boxed since losing his lucrative ring debut to Mayweather, 47.

But he makes his long-awaited return to the UFC on June 29 against Michael Chandler, 37, after three years away.
