CONTROVERSY has rocked the boxing world after Ryan Garcia was accused of testing positive for steroids.
The report emerged on Wednesday, 11 days after Garcia’s majority decision victory over Devin Haney.
It was reported that “Garcia tested positive for the banned PED Ostarine in a VADA test related to the Haney fight,” as per Boxing Reporter Daniel Rafael.
Garcia may request that his B sample be tested within the next 10 days, according to ESPN Mike Coppinger.
He added that Garcia’s A sample “was also tested positive for 19-norandrosterone but was not confirmed.”
Since the reports emerged, Garcia has started using X, formerly known as Twitter.
In a clip shared on X, with the caption: “Fake news as if I were Donald Trump”, Garcia insisted that he did not take steroids.
“I came here to address this allegation that I cheated,” he said.
“Everyone knows I don’t cheat.
“What can I say? Why didn’t they reveal this before the fight if they found out earlier?
“Why would they enter the ring as cheaters, come out with a win and post it?
“Again, these are people who are trying to attack me for whatever reason. But no weapon against me will prosper.”
Garcia added that he doesn’t know where to get steroids and that he hardly takes any supplements.
“Big lies. I beat him up,” he said.
