The Scot collapsed under a fifth-round barrage from the English champion in a battle of unbeaten Brits at the Cardiff International Arena.

Johnstone initially only lifted his head, with his legs barely moving.

Jeffers instantly realized the worrying situation, walking straight over to check on his rival’s condition.

With the crowd now silent, doctors treated Johnstone, who was given an oxygen mask.

He was then able to breathe without assistance, leaving his opponent and fans reassured.

Jeffers said: “We all want a knockout, but the most important thing is that everyone leaves the ring safe and sound.

“So I’m pleased that Darren is up and well.”

After rising from the screen, Johnstone was well enough to climb up to his stool and sit on it.
