OLEKSANDR USYK scored a historic split decision victory over Tyson Fury to become undisputed champion.

Usyk, 37, ended Fury’s 35-year-old unbeaten streak on Saturday at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia after a 12-round thriller.

The Ukrainian extended his impressive unbeaten streak to 22 wins and caused the Gypsy King’s first defeat after 36 fights.

Scores in Riyadh read 115-112 for Usyk, 114-113 for Fury and 114-113 for the eventual winner.

Based on the cards, the Ukrainian heavyweight won the first, seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th rounds.

Fury prevailed in the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth rounds.

The Ukrainian was very emotional after the fight, which should lead to a rematch.

Usyk said: “Thank you so much my team, my God, Jesus.

“Your Excellency, thank you, this is a great opportunity for me, for my family.

“Slava Ukraini [Glory to Ukraine]. It’s great. I do not have words.

Regarding a possible rematch, Usyk added: “Of course I’m ready. Once again we will have a good fight.”

Fury also confirmed he plans to exercise his rematch clause by October.

The British boxing star said: “I will be back, I have a rematch clause.”

Fury added: “We will definitely be back. Get some rest, spend time with my family and we’ll be back in October.”
