TNT Sports commentator identifies a problem that was ‘concerning Tyson Fury since the first round’ against Oleksandr Usyk

HERE’S how SunSport’s Chisanga Malata saw the fight as Oleksandr Usyk was crowned undisputed king of the world against Tyson Fury.

ROUND 1

Here we go. Both men look to establish dominance from the start, taking the center of the ring.

Fury descends on the Ukrainian, who opens the attack with a hard shot to the body.

The Gypsy King looks huge compared to Usyk, who is no dwarf.

Usyk is happy to operate from the outside, although the initial hit he threw gave him some food for thought.

But Fury comes roaring back with a massive blow to the body after running away from danger.

ROUND 3

Fury is on his bike after the restart and hits a hard straight to the right of the range.

Usyk decided to close the gap after taking that dose and goes to work on Fury’s trimmed torso.

A solid overhand left snaps Fury’s head back with just over a minute left in the stanza.

Fury lands a good combo with thirty seconds left. But he gets pushed back into the ring and eats another blast before the bell rings. USYK 10-9

Round 4

Fury goes to work on the body with two hard strikes after the restart.

He’s absolutely loving it, dancing after landing his shots.

But he’s still allowing himself to back off and take pressure from Usyk.

Fury lands a nice counter as Usyk advances.

Usyk has his head thrown back by another terrible blow.

Both men nearly went hard to the back before the bell, with Fury narrowly missing an uppercut and Usyk an overhand left. FURY 10-9

Round 5

Usyk takes the center of the ring after the restart and tries to feint his way into range.

Fury is doing a good job of keeping the Ukrainian at bay as he tries to close the gap.

A harsh uppercut snaps Usyk’s head back.

Fury is hurting Usyk to the body with relentless hooks to the midsection. FURY 10-9

Round 6

Usyk is in front soon after the restart and wants to put Fury on the defensive again.

A hard body hit to the solar plexus gives Usyk more to think about.

Fury almost closed the show with a big uppercut with a minute and a half left in the round.

But he finds a home for it 20 seconds later and Usyk is in retreat mode.

Fury closes the round with a bit of exhibitionism, placing his hands behind his back before resting his arms on the ropes.

Round 7

Usyk once again closes the distance after the restart but is caught at range.

And when he steps back, his body is hit with nasty hooks.

Usyk finds a home to his left, but Fury eats him as a snack made by his loving wife Paris.

Another straight left hits the head of Fury, who circles out of range to try and create space for a body shot.

Usyk manages to close the distance with seconds remaining and finds a home for a two-punch combo.

But Fury manages to pull away to hear the doorbell. FURY 10-9

Round 8

Fury is happy to play on the backfoot in the eighth and pick his shots.

But he has his dome shaken by straight, back-to-back left hands – which he avoids before faking back and trying to create space for a body shot.

Usyk briefly finds himself dealing with Fury’s weight in the clinch after landing a good straight left.

Fury is bleeding profusely from his nose. I wasn’t the one who caused the damage. Big round for Usyk. USYK 10-9

Round 9

Fury is doing a good job of deceiving Usyk with feints, but the Ukrainian continues to advance.

But he is slowly but surely allowing the gap to close, which leads to him landing a big flush left into the corner.

Fury gets hurt and stumbles into the ring. It was a left hand that did the damage.

Fury doesn’t know where he is and is eating a barrage of clear follow-up photos. He beats the count and luckily the bell saves him. USA 10-8

Round 10

Usyk – like the Big Cat that he is – feels blood and is giving Fury no quarter.

Fury barely plays anything and what he does play is telegraphed and slow.

Usyk looks tired, but he needs to keep his foot on the gas if he is to have any chance of becoming an undisputed two-weight champion. USYK 10-9

Round 11

Desperate, Usyk, encouraged by the plight of his fellow Ukrainians back home, immediately begins work after the restart.

Fury tries to keep him away with the jab, but he’s struggling to hit him with the stiffness he had in the first few rounds.

Usyk briefly traps the WBC king in the corner and lands a rough left hand.

Usyk doubles up with two left hands that briefly support Fury against the ropes.

The round ends with another big overhand from Usyk. USYK 10-9

Round 12

The fans present at the Kingdom Arena cheer for the two warriors after the final restart of the fight.

Fury is playing the killer as Usyk tries to get in close to land his left hand.

And he finds a home for it with a minute and a half left in the verse.

A slashing right hand sends Fury backwards, but he responds with a spare shot that supports the southpaw.

Fury puts his hands behind his back in an attempt to goad Usyk into making a sloppy mistake in the final seconds.

But he remains alert as he tries to close the distance, which Fury times to initiate a clinch. FURY 10-9
