FORMER world champion Johnny Nelson fears “devastated” Tyson Fury could retire from boxing after defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury survived a brutal attack in the ninth round and was saved by the bell after being shaken with a left hand.
The first four-belt unification in the heavyweight division went down the drain, with Usyk emerging with a famous split decision victory.
A rematch is scheduled for October, but former cruiserweight champion Nelson warned not to rule out the possibility of Fury hanging up his gloves for good.
He said Celestial sports: “I think Tyson Fury will be devastated by the outcome of this.
“Tyson’s team will have serious conversations about how to motivate him after this and recover his mind.
“Don’t be surprised if Tyson walks away from this. What else can he do?
“This defeat would have destroyed his head and his heart.”
Fury, 35, refused to commit to a rematch when asked at the post-fight press conference.
He said: “Right in the old truck, dog in the back, all the way to the end, all the same stuff, picking up dog shit and cleaning diapers.

TYSON FURY VS OLEKSANDR USYK HOW IT HAPPENED: Relive all the action from the undisputed world title thriller
“On Monday morning, when I’m at home doing the school run and the kids are shouting and screaming, and the seat belts are out of sight and everything is back to normal, what will that mean for me?
“It won’t mean anything. For me it’s just another day at the office, like sitting at the bus stop outside Morecambe and getting wet and the sand hits your face, it’s just another day for me. Just another day in the ghetto.”
Anthony Joshua was ringside in Saudi Arabia to watch the fight and rooted for Usyk, 37, who has defeated him twice, to take home the belts.
Joshua, 34, is expected to return to Wembley in September and could await the verdict on Fury’s long-awaited rematch with Usyk.
