But the Baddest Man on the Planet suffered a bout of ulcers just weeks before the fight while boarding a plane.

As a result, doctors have warned Tyson against the training that saw the controversial clash being knocked out for now.

Paul has explored finding a new opponent, but Netflix is desperate for its first live boxing event to involve Iron Mike.

Therefore, SunSport understands that the fight will be rescheduled for the last quarter of the year, between October and December.

But still, that didn’t stop names from lining up to replace Tyson, including his last opponent.

Jones, 55, drew Tyson in eight exhibition rounds in 2020.

But the American icon fought as recently as April 2023, when he lost on points to former UFC champion Anthony Pettis, 37.

And Jones will now be ready if needed in the ring once again amid Tyson’s health scare.

Amir Khan hints he will fight KSI and Jake Paul as he teases boxing’s impressive return at age 37

“I think it’s a great idea and I’ll be ready and in shape because if the fight doesn’t happen then the ideal guy to replace Mike Tyson to fight Jake Paul is something I’ve been thinking about. It’s out there, so yes.”

Both Tyson, 57, and Paul, 27, remained determined to keep their fight alive forever.

Tyson said: “I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time.

“Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flare-up, I was advised by my doctor to ease up on my training for a few weeks to rest and recover.

“My body is in better shape overall than it has been since the 1990s and I will soon be returning to my full training schedule.

“Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good.

“I appreciate everyone’s patience and I can’t wait to put on an unforgettable performance later this year.”

Paul added: “I fully support postponing the event so that Mike Tyson has no excuses on fight night.

“My fans know I don’t want to face Iron Mike in anything other than his best, but make no mistake – when he steps into the ring with me, I’ll be ready to claim my W with a sensational finish.

“Paul vs. Tyson will be something for the ages, and I promise to do my best for this once-in-a-lifetime showdown.”
