SAVANNAH MARSHALL will be boxing and MMA royalty when he steps into the Octagon for the first time.

The world boxing champion signed a contract with the Professional Fighters League and is preparing to make her Octagon debut on Saturday, against Mirela Vargas.

At his side will be boxing coach Peter Fury – uncle of British legend Tyson.

But in front will be Andy Aspinall and his son Tom, current interim UFC heavyweight champion.

Marshall, 33, told SunSport: “I’ve been training with Andy Aspinall, I’ve known Andy for about seven years.

“So obviously I have Peter who is on the boxing side and Andy who is Jiu-Jitsu, boxing and a little bit of everything.

“Tom will go up and be in the corner too, which will be cool.”

Fury is a veteran trainer on the British boxing scene and led his nephew Tyson to an iconic victory over Wladimir Klitschko.

But Marshall revealed it was the experienced boxing coach who convinced her to switch to MMA.

She said: “To be honest, I feel like he kind of pushed me into it.

“He was really into it. And fair play to Peter, because he really let Andy take the reins.

“He understands that it’s a totally different sport and what works for me in the boxing ring won’t work for me in the octagon.

My brothers signed for Man Utd and one scored for England… but I’m a star in MMA training with UFC legends

“He’s very open-minded about it, to be honest.”

Marshall follows boxing rival Claressa Shields to the PFL, where the American is 2-1 in the cage.

Shields, 29, won their undisputed boxing fight in 2022 and the two are lined up for a sensational MMA rematch.

Marshall added: “My focus is on getting the rematch with Claressa, but obviously I know there are a lot of gears that need to be turned and it’s whether she wants it or not.

“If that doesn’t materialize, I would consider joining the league. The only thing is that the weight I fight is not part of the league.

“I would have to fall and it’s a weight I’ve never touched before, so that’s a big question mark for me.”
