Saint George later fought Carl Froch twice, losing both times, with the long-awaited rematch taking place in a packed Wembley Stadium.

Groves, now 36, became super-middleweight champion in 2017, holding the title for a year before retiring following a defeat to Callum Smith.

Meanwhile, DeGale rose to fame by winning gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

He became a two-time IBF super middleweight champion – retiring in 2019 after a loss to Chris Eubank Jr.

After bumping into DeGale, Groves took a photo with his old enemy.

Posting a photo of the smiling pair on Instagram, Saint George wrote: “Look who I met today on the King’s Road.

“The debate still remains… who had the best career? Or should we just debate it on the podcast?”

DeGale, 38, commented with the eyes emoji.

The pair’s reunion in 2011 occurred amid significant disagreement.

Having previously trained at the same club, the pair fell out dramatically.

DeGale taunted his former friend at the time, telling Sky Sports: “I’m ready for it, I’m just waiting for the call from my promoter. I’m ready to knock out Ugly Kid.

“The fans want this, so it’s only right that he gets knocked out. Let’s go for it. I’m just waiting for the call. I just want them to sign the contract. Let’s do this, Ugly Kid. I’m coming for you – you’re next.”

Since hanging up his gloves, Groves has started a podcast, titled George Groves’ Boxing Club.

Although he has also provided commentary for Sky Sports.

DeGale, meanwhile, is a much less frequent figure on the boxing talk circuit.

He rarely appears as an expert and rarely offers his opinions on today’s stars.

Seeing the duo bury the hatchet, many fans were emotional on social media.

One wrote: “Never in my life did I think you two would be in a photo like this.

While a second commented: “Beautiful.”

A third gushed: “They both made us proud.”

And another added: “What a rivalry.”
