CHRIS EUBANK JR will reportedly be the next shock opponent in the fight against the legendary Canelo Alvarez.
The 34-year-old Briton has a 33-3 record and gained revenge on Liam Smith in last year’s rematch with a tenth-round TKO in his last fight.
Now, the son of the iconic Chris Eubank Sr is ready for a shot at the undisputed super middleweight king.
At least according to Salvador Rodríguez, ESPNwho claims that Eubank Jr is the new favorite to challenge the 33-year-old Mexican.
Canelo dominated Jamie Mungia in May in his last 168-pound title defense.
He knocked down his compatriot before claiming a unanimous decision victory, taking his incredible career tally to 64 wins, two losses and two draws.
Now he is looking for his next opponent after his fourth consecutive victory.
And Canelo intends to return to the ring at the end of 2024.
Eubank Jr, a former WBA title challenger, is said to be at the top of the list of potential names.
He has been publicly asking for an opportunity to fight Canelo for several years.

But until now he has been snubbed by the four-weight world champion’s matchmakers.
However, as he prepares to turn 35 in September, he may finally get the birthday he’s been waiting for and the mega career payday.
Most boxing fans have been clamoring to see Canelo face fellow Mexican David Benavidez Jr, who has recorded 24 knockouts in his 29-0 record.
Unfortunately for them, it looks like a fight that Canelo isn’t excited about.
Of Benavidez, he recently told Fight Hub TV: “It might be one of the biggest fights, who knows.
“But you know, he doesn’t bring anything to the table for me, he only brings 25 kilos on fight night.
“I feel like if it’s some promoter, not him, because he’s not in a position to offer me anything in cash, it’s me, but if it’s a promoter that I work with, if they offer between $150 million and $200 million , I fight tomorrow.
“That’s the only reason I fight him, the only thing he brings to the table is 25 more pounds.”
“No pressure to fight, I don’t need to fight anyone, I don’t need to prove anything to anyone because I remember when that happened with Golovkin. I don’t need to prove anything to anyone.”
Canelo is widely considered one of the best pound-for-pound boxers on the planet following his dominance at four different weights.
Eubank still hasn’t managed to win the world title, but he retained the IBO belt at super middleweight.
