But the pair traded blows almost prematurely during Friday’s ceremonial weigh-in for the fight in Tampa.

Perry sparked chaotic scenes by pushing his ex Disney star Paul on the chest after they faced each other.

Paul was unhappy with the MMA star’s antics, pushing him back with considerable force.

A series of security guards quickly jumped in to prevent the pair from landing serious blows, although they struggled to restrain Perry.

The incident spread like wildfire on social media, although it didn’t particularly whet fans’ appetite for the fight.

One wrote on the X: “It’s staged, Mike pushed but backed away. Jake will win tomorrow, completely staged.”

Another said: “This is so staged.”

And another said: “You have to sell them PPVs.”

Another added: “They are friends just trying to liven up the fight.”

Paul, 27, was initially set to face boxing icon Mike Tyson in a controversial crossover clash at Cowboys Stadium.

But the fight in Dallas was postponed until November after Tyson suffered a medical emergency on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles.

Paul admits he is taking a big risk by fighting Perry, but is confident he will prepare for the clash with Tyson with a devastating finish.

Moments before being pushed by Perry, Paul said: “One round, one round.

“You’re going to eat the ring tomorrow night. You’re going to fall face first.”
