But the boxing legend continued in the sport through lucrative exhibition fights.

And Mayweather, in November 2021, faced KSI’s younger brother, 27-year-old Deji, who won after six rounds of provocations and exhibitions.

The antics infuriated KSI and the YouTuber-turned-boxer opened the door to fight the American icon for revenge.

And Mayweather’s uncle Jeff – KSI’s former trainer – admitted the showdown would be the right thing to bring his nephew back.

Jeff told SunSport: “It’s a fight that brings in a lot of money for both of them, so why not?

“I mean, KSI, I worked with him and of course, there’s no YouTube fighter on the planet that’s going to beat Floyd, I don’t care what their weight is.

“They will not be Floyd. Floyd still has a fighter’s body, he still runs, he’s still in the gym from time to time.

“It’s been his life, it’s the life he knows because he grew up that way. It is installed in it.”

KSI, 30, has not returned since suffering his first boxing defeat, a controversial decision to Tommy Fury, 24, in October.

But he wants to fight again and has named Mayweather along with McGregor, 35, Jake Paul, 27, and Fury as his smallest potential opponent.

Definitive boxing rich list including Anthony Joshua, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Mayweather, 47, has already staged seven post-retirement exhibitions against stars from social media, MMA and the boxing world.

The last one was against the grandson of notorious mob boss John Gotti, which ended in a disqualification victory after an altercation in the ring.

Uncle Jeff defended Mayweather’s decision to continue fighting until he was 40, with millions to be made, despite being past his best performance.

Jeff said, “I mean, why not make $3-4 million fighting a guy who has basically never done anything in the real sport of boxing?

“And it’s fun, it’s not even a real fight. We already know who will win.”
