Former Samford big man and NCAA Tournament star Achor Achor has ended his transfer process, officially committing to Kansas State for next season. The 6-foot-2 Australian forward was the star of the 29-win Samford Bulldogs in 2023-2024.

The big man is not only a dominant presence inside the box, but he has also greatly improved his 3-point shooting in 2024, connecting on 44% of his long ball attempts, compared to just 33% in his first season with the Bulldogs. Even more impressive, Achor’s attempts nearly doubled as his efficiency increased in Samford’s chaotic, fast-paced “Bucky Ball” attack.

Achor’s size, length and spacing are qualities that Auburn coach Bruce Pearl loves to see in his transfer targets, which is probably the main reason the Tigers were prioritizing Achor’s talents. Unfortunately, the big man chose to move out of state to Kansas State, where he will likely finish his college career as a Wildcat.

With Achor off the board, Auburn’s top transfer targets have seemingly narrowed down to former Miami point guard Wooga Poplar, former five-star Texas recruit Dillon Mitchell and SMU transfer Ja’Heim Hudson. It certainly seems like Pearl wants to add at least one more impact player to his rotation. We’ll see if this player belongs to the aforementioned trio of stars.
