Arizona State basketball coach Bobby Hurley is breaking new ground in recruiting for the Sun Devils, paths that have college basketball writers praising ASU’s potential in the 2024-25 college basketball season.

One writer even wrote that Hurley’s team could be a “dark horse” to win the Big 12 championship.

Who would have dreamed of this after the Sun Devils had a 14-18 overall record last season and just 8-12 in Pac-12 play?

But ASU’s recruiting class, which is currently ranked #4 in the country by 247 Sports (yes, in the country, not in the Big 12), Arizona State received a lot of praise in the off-season.

Can Hurley maintain his recruiting momentum and build something special at ASU next season?

Austen Bundy wrote, “The Sun Devils, of course, have their work cut out for them against Big 12 bluebloods Kansas, Baylor, Iowa State and Houston. However, ASU’s combination of high-level talent and Hurley’s experience as a coach against former Pac- 12 strong Oregon, UCLA and Arizona could be enough to get the team to March Madness.

Cole Amundson wrote: “Entering his first year in the Big 12, Bobby Hurley has excelled on the recruiting trail, putting together the 4th-best composite recruiting class in the country, according to 24/7 Sports, thanks to some masterful turnovers. Afterwards Calipari left for Arkansas, former Kentucky commit and five-star McDonald’s All-American Jayden Quaintance flipped his commitment to the Sun Devils instead of Louisville and Memphis, giving Hurley one of the country’s best pure transfer point guard prospects. four-star Josh Sanon from Arizona to Arizona State (college basketball rivalries, gotta love ’em!), likely due to Caleb Love’s announcement of his return to the Wildcats class – and that doesn’t include players like the four-star forward. stars Amier Ali and three-star point guard Bo Aldridge. It’s a highly anticipated season for the Sun Devils, and their work with the 2024 recruiting class has a lot to do with it.
