Coach John Calipari and the Arkansas Razorbacks will reportedly host Oakland as part of the 2024-25 non-conference schedule, according to a report by Rocco Miller.
Based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies eliminated Calipari and the 3-seed Kentucky Wildcats from the NCAA Tournament on March 21 behind Jack Gohlke’s 10 three-point shots.
The Razorbacks are 2-0 all-time against Oakland, with the last meeting resulting in a 91-68 victory in Fayetteville on November 16, 2011. The two teams also met at Bud Walton Arena in December 2006, when the Hogs beat the Golden Grizzlies, 91-57.
Arkansas is also scheduled to play Michigan at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 10, according to Jeff Goodman. According to Calipari, most of the non-conference programming is complete.
“Most things come down to who we’re going to play with, and then there might be a team that I try to play with at home and at home,” Calipari said may 25th. “But we’re going to play in Little Rock. We’re going to play in Dallas. You need national games. You have to play in Madison Square Garden.”
As of now, the Razorbacks know their 2024-25 conference opponents home and away. Arkansas will home and home LSU, Missouri and Texas, as well as host Alabama and Oklahoma while traveling to Kentucky and Tennessee, among others.
“Right now, some of the games I have scheduled, you get calls from ESPN, different events, CBS — can you do that? Calipari said. “Until I get the rest of the lineup, I probably won’t be fully on schedule, but we’re in good shape right now. I’m excited about it. Like, let’s go.”
Arkansas currently has nine scholarship players for the 2024-25 roster, with the recent return of Trevon Brazile. Click here for HawgBeat’s Arkansas basketball roster tracker.
