The CBS Sports Classic has been around since 2014 and has had the same four teams in rotation to do battle since its inception. Ohio State has been a part of things along with Kentucky, North CarolineIt is UCLAand despite many claiming that the Buckeyes don’t belong in the loaded field, they did very well in the event, with an overall record of 5-4.
Who knows how long the event will continue to run with UCLA now joining the Big Ten, but we know things will go until at least 2026 when the renewed contract expires. That means we’ll have a showdown on December 21st, and this time it will be at the venerable Madison Square Garden in a rotating format.
So who do the Buckeyes play this season? None other than the Kentucky Wildcats, which means North Carolina and UCLA will battle it out in the other game.
OSU is actually 2-0 against Kentucky in the showcase event, having seen its 2022 contest against the Wildcats canceled. Ohio State won 71-65 in 2019 and also defeated the fourth-ranked Wildcats 74-67 in 2015.
As far as playing time goes, the OSU game will begin after the conclusion of the Carolina vs. Carolina game. UCLA, which is set for 3 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+. Oh yeah, and Aaron Bradshaw’s transfer storyline against his former team should be fun to watch.
