The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed former Memphis basketball standout Nae’Qwan Tomlin, Tomlin’s mentor Steve Barnett tells The Commercial Appeal.

Tomlin is scheduled to report on Monday. It’s unclear what type of contract he agreed to at this time, Barnett said.

The 6-foot-1 forward played the final 21 games in his lone season with the Tigers in 2023-24, averaging 14.0 points and 6.0 rebounds. Tomlin transferred mid-season from Kansas State. The Harlem, NY native spent one season with the Wildcats, helping Jerome Tang’s team reach the Elite Eight in 2022-23, scoring 10.4 points and 5.9 rebounds along the way.

Tomlin’s organized basketball career began at Monroe (NY) Community College. After one season there, he spent two seasons at Chipola (Florida) Community College. The 23-year-old did not play basketball in high school due to academic ineligibility.

But once Tomlin turned a corner, he never turned back. In his partial season at Memphis, he made 60.1% of his shots from the field, which included a 39.6% clip from beyond the 3-point line.
