As college basketball coaches scramble over the next few weeks trying to secure top talent in the all-important month of July, we take a look at four 2025 commitments from the past two weeks that could pay off big in the long run.
All four prospects currently sit outside the Rivals150 top 50, but still showed enough this summer to project as early contributors once they land on their respective college campuses in the future.
JAMARION BATEMON TO IOWA STATE
Batemon, who checks in at No. 104 on Rivals150, is an elite shooter who brings the pincers on the defensive end. He has the innate ability to move without the ball, wrapping around screens and holdings to get space to shoot efficiently from the perimeter. The 6-foot-1 guard brings great energy on both ends of the court and has the quickness and athleticism to get to his spots on the court. Batemon fits the mold of a die-hard TJ Otzelberger guard who should thrive in the Big 12.

DAVID FOGLE TO GONZAGA
The 6-foot-1 point guard has a strong reputation as a scorer after averaging 31 points per game his senior high school season. He made a lot of noise at the NBPA Top 100 Camp last month, averaging 15.7 points, six rebounds and 3.3 assists per game and now joins Mark few with all the potential to be Gonzaga’s next underrated star. Still, Fogle’s work has gone completely unnoticed, he comes in at 58th overall in Rivals150 and joining AZ Compass Prep next season and playing for the Nike EYBL Scholastic should further improve his national profile.

JAYLEN HARRELL IN PROVIDENCE
After a dominant high school season that culminated in Harrell taking home Gatorade Player of the Year hardware from Massachusetts, the 6-foot-1 wing has been one of the most productive perimeter threats in the Nike EYBL, averaging 17. 6 points per game for Expressions. Elite. Harrell’s ability to impact the game on both sides in a variety of ways makes him an important asset to Kim English. Harrell comes in at 89th overall in Rivals150.

DORIAN JONES FOR OHIO STATE
The 6-foot-2 scoring guard is lanky and athletic, with the ability to finish over the top and through contact. He also locks in on the defensive end and has the ability to guard multiple positions in the backcourt and on the perimeter. Jones is a prototypical three-and-D prospect, but has the ability to get into the lane and finish efficiently at the rim. With a logical progression, Jones, who comes in at 67th overall in Rivals150, could be a complex piece in Jake Dieblersystem.
