LAWRENCE – Allen Fieldhouse, home of the Kansas men’s and women’s basketball programs, will have new capacity following ongoing renovations to the arena.

According to a statement from KU that focused on season ticket availability, the building’s new capacity will be 15,300. The previously listed capacity was 16,300.

Several phases of construction, which are expected to be completed before the 2024-25 seasons for these programs, were funded “through a $50 million project funded by generous supporters of Kansas Athletics.” Among the changes coming to Allen Fieldhouse are a new look to its upper two levels, a new video board, 1,100 new west-side seats and more.

“There is no other sports venue with more history and energy than Allen Fieldhouse,” Kansas athletics director Travis Goff said in the news release. “In the future, we are extremely excited that our fans will combine the tradition of the building with an unparalleled gaming experience. Extensive scrutiny, consideration and attention to detail went into the renovation plan and we are very confident that our fans will enjoy the enhanced amenities and experience while continuing to appreciate the aura they have always loved about Allen Fieldhouse.”
