With the open evaluation period beginning this week, college coaches across the country are keeping an eye on prospects in the AAU cycle. That includes Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels.
On Thursday, Davis was in South Carolina to watch a top recruiting target in the 2025 class in Malachi Moreno play. And a day later, he was back watching one of the top five candidates.
Five-star recruit Koa Peat is participating in the Adidas 3SSB Palmetto Road Championships in Rock Hill, South Carolina and has drawn a large crowd of coaches from across the country, including Davis. According to Jeff Borzello, Peat had a multitude of coaches watching him:
Bill Self, Hubert Davis, Pat Kelsey, Bruce Pearl, Dusty May, Tony Bennett, Chris Collins, Steve Forbes, Bobby Hurley, Kentucky, Arizona, USC, UCLA, NBA scouts for Compton Magic/Austin Rivers SE Elite.

As you can see above, several coaches like Bill Self (Kansas), Pat Kelsey (Louisville), Bruce Pearl (Auburn), Tony Bennett (Virginia) and Dusty May (Michigan) were present to watch.
Peat has a total of 30 offers in his recruitment and has made four visits so far.
The Tar Heels are in contention to land the 6-foot-8, 235-pound Peat, but they have some stiff competition ahead of them. They brought him to campus last November for a visit that helped, but there appears to be a long way to go in his recruitment.
Peat is ranked No. 5 overall, the No. 2 offensive lineman and the No. 1 player in the state of Arizona according to the 247Sports Recruiting Rankings.
