The North Carolina Tar Heels have taken a step forward in recruiting major dual-sport recruit Kendre Harrison.
The Reidsville, North Carolina native is a top-10 football recruit in the class of 2026, as well as a top-30 basketball recruit. On Monday, he took a big step forward in his recruitment, narrowing his offer list to six.
Harrison announced he would focus on UNC, Tennessee, Penn State, Oregon, State of Floridaand Miami. This is huge for North Carolina as they offered him in football and basketball in hopes of landing the prized recruit.
With Harrison announcing his top six, it’s hard to say where UNC stands, but one thing is for sure: the basketball program’s offer could have changed things in a big way for the Tar Heels, as Rival reporter Sam Spiegelman pointed out:
North Carolina got the state’s top 2026 prospect in Chapel Hill last month.
During the visit, Tar Heels basketball H.C. Hubert Davis awarded the pass-catching tight end a basketball scholarship.
“Having the opportunity to play basketball and football for an amazing program… to do it in my home state, near Reidsville, is a blessing,” noted the nation’s No. 1 TE.
“The way they gave me the basketball,” he continued. “Coach Hubert Davis and Coach Mack Brown offering me basketball is definitely an amazing opportunity. It’s an incredible moment in my life and it’s something I’ll never forget – how they did it and how they showed so much love. The main thing is that I have a smile on my face.”
Harrison will visit Oregon in late July and will likely make more visits this fall. He has been to the UNC campus a few times during his recruitment and will likely be back.
Having the opportunity to play for a great basketball program could make a difference in this recruitment.
