Iowa State Rankings Update
Iowa State football will not open the 2024 season in the top 25, although the Cyclones were on some voters’ minds.
Coach Matt Campbell’s team was among those receiving votes in the preseason USA TODAY US LBM Coaches Poll. The Cyclones received 15 points in the preseason poll, tying them with the Liberty for 10th in the top 25.
Georgia took the top spot in the poll, while conference newcomer Utah was the highest-ranked Big 12 team at No. 13. Kansas State and Oklahoma State ranked 17th and 18th, respectively. Arizona is ranked 21st and Kansas is ranked 24th, giving the league five teams in the top 25 to start the year.
The Cyclones went 7-6 with a berth in the Liberty Bowl a season ago and were picked sixth in the Big 12 preseason poll. They open the season Aug. 31 at home against North Dakota State.
