A Nebraska linebacker target has committed to Iowa State. Will Hawthorne chose the Cyclones over the Cornhuskers on Thursday afternoon.

Hawthorne is a three-star prospect out of Gilbert High School in Gilbert, IA. Last season, he recorded 63 tackles, 10.0 for loss and 4.5 sacks. He also rushed for 774 yards and seven touchdowns, while catching 12 passes for 320 yards and four touchdowns.

The linebacker was named district defensive MVP and was an all-state selection. His interest in Nebraska only occurred recently. He did not receive an offer until June 8 and did not make an official visit to Lincoln until June 21.

The Huskers class of 2025 currently has 17 commitments. The class is led by four-star prospects Malcolm Simpson and Jamarion Parker, to name a few.
