Four-star defensive recruit Jontae Gilbert has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs. Gilbert is the Bulldogs’ No. 23 commit in the 2025 class.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback is Georgia’s fifth defensive commitment in the 2025 class, so the Dawgs are all but set in the secondary. Gilbert plays football at Frederick Douglass High School in Atlanta, Georgia.

Georgia is really exploring the Peach State in the 2025 cycle. Fourteen of Georgia’s 23 commitments in the 2025 cycle are inside prospects. For reference, in the last recruiting cycle, the Bulldogs only signed 10 in-state recruits.

Gilbert is ranked as the No. 19 cornerback in the country by 247Sports. Gilbert is the No. 138 prospect in the country and the No. 19 recruit in Georgia.

Now the Bulldogs have the second-best recruiting class in the SEC behind Alabama and the third-ranked recruiting class in the country.

Georgia football fans, coaches and media are buzzing on social media following Jontae Gilbert’s commitment to UGA.

In Gilbert’s film, the four-star shows positional versatility. Gilbert lines up both in the slot and on the outside. The Peach State standout plays wide receiver in addition to cornerback and does a good job tracking the football.
