With the annual spring game now in sight, Michigan football can focus more fully on recruiting. And it seems to be making some progress.
The Wolverines have not yet secured a commitment for 2024, but that could change quickly now that the Maize and Blue have their coaching staff set in stone and are fully prepared for next season. One prospect who appears to be giving Michigan strong looks is 2025 Edwardsville (Ill.) four-star edge rusher Iose Epenesa, who is ranked No. 20 overall regardless of position, according to 247Sports proprietary rankings. And on Sunday, his top 10 was revealed, and the Wolverines are contenders for his services.
Clear Iowa made the cut, as his brother — former EDGE five-star AJ Epenesa — starred on the show, as did his father, Eppy. miami, KentuckyMissouri, Utah, Oregon, Penn StateIllinois and Texas also made the cut.
247Sports’ Allen Trieu scouting report:
He played both sides of the ball as a freshman, but his future is more likely as a defensive lineman. He has a varied athletic background that includes track and basketball throwing. He runs well and can chase down plays. He comes off the snap and can win with a quick run. Looking at his genetics and early growth potential, he will likely have a big college finish but will have the athleticism to remain on the edge like his brother. He projects himself as an important player.
247Sports lists Epenesa as the highest-rated player in the state of Illinois and the third-best defensive lineman.
