Penn State continues to look for offensive line options in its 2025 class, as it currently has just two commitments in that position group. Owen Aliciene It is Michael Troutman.
They have done an incredible job recruiting and developing strikers since Phil Trautwein joined the program in 2020.
The Nittany Lions landed five offensive line commits in the 2024 class and also transferred Nolan Rucciso it’s unclear how many they’re targeting this cycle.
However, one player they are interested in is a four-star Max Buchanan.
The 6-foot-2, 270-pounder recently narrowed his list to six schools and included Penn State. Others he is still considering are Florida State, Clemson, Miami, Ole Miss and UCF.
The Florida native is coming off an official visit to Ole Miss this past weekend.
According to Chad Simmons of On3These will be an important factor in your decision making.
“What sets a school apart for me will depend on how my visits go. I want to see how honest and truthful the people at each school are. Getting along with the players and people on campus is very important to me. I’ll only be around the coaches when I’m at the facilities or at training, so I want to see how I get on with the players. That’s going to be really important to me,” Buchanan said.
Penn State will be the last official visit he makes, as he is scheduled to come to Happy Valley on June 21.
This was a recruit on the radar of Jaime Franklin and his team for a while, as they were the second school to offer him a scholarship and they stayed in consistent contact with him throughout the process.
It might be a bit of an uphill battle, however.
On3 Recruitment Prediction Machine currently lists Penn State with the worst odds among the six schools he is considering, at an 8.2% chance. The state of Florida is the leader with a 22.7% chance.
Based on the time the coaching staff has dedicated to this process, they will likely make a serious effort to sign him before his official visit in June.
