The Florida Gators have officially joined the recruiting race for the No. 2 pick in the 2026 class, Kaiden Prothro of Bowdon (Georgia).

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound pass catcher is subject to some serious damage in the SEC, but it also garnered him a lot of attention at a young age. Florida is a little late to this race — Prothro has more than 30 offers and counting — but he maintains that “no one is late,” according to Alligators online.

Admittedly a bit blind to what Florida is all about, Prothro knows the Gators have a recent history of producing elite players at his position.

“I’m thinking about going there,” he said. “(Tight ends coach Russ Callaway) talked to me and told me he likes me and how he’s trying to get me there. Seeing what Kyle Pitts did at Florida showed me that there is a good opportunity to go there, showcase my skills and be a first-round player.

So what is Prothro looking for from the Gators?

“I’m going to look for a place that shows me that I can express my talents on the field and be who I am, with the potential to reach the league.”

Recruitment Summary

Prothro is a consensus four-star recruit who has yet to receive a grade from ESPN (the 2026 ESPN300 has not yet been released). The On3 industry rankings, which consider all four major services, place him at No. 33 overall and No. 2 among tight ends in his class. O 247Sports compound places it even higher, in 23rd and 3rd places, respectively.

Ole Miss is at the top of their On3 recruiting prediction machine with a 25.9% chance of signing him. Georgia Tech (15.4%), Auburn (13.2%) and Georgia (11.0%) complete this list.
