The Big Ten-and-then-some announced its conference men’s basketball opponents for this winter on Wednesday.

Don’t worry, Michigan It is State of Michigan will still play twice in the regular season. But each team will only play two other schools, home and away, in the 2024-25 season.

For the Wolverines and new coach Dusty May, that means playing just once on the road against rivals Ohio State and Indiana, while having to face two-time Big Ten champion Purdue twice.

For the Spartans and Hall of Fame coach Tom Izzo, there won’t be a road trip to face the Boilermakers, Hoosiers and Wisconsin, but they will have a doubleheader against the always-tough Illinois.

Michigan State coach Tom Izzo Coach Tom Izzo, right, shakes hands with Michigan's Nimari Burnett after the Spartans' victory over the Wolverines on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. The victory was Izzo's 700th victory of his career.

And for each, there will be a mid-winter swing in Southern California and a visit from their new members of the Pacific Northwest conference.

While dates and other details won’t be released until later (last year on Sept. 18), MSU and UM can at least begin planning for the 20-game, 18-team Big Ten debut later this summer. Here’s a look at both teams’ upcoming opponents.
