It’s pretty safe to say that not many people knew that Notre Dame football was recruiting the Ohio defensive end for 2025 Gordy Sulfsted.

What was even more interesting was that the 6-foot, 5-inch, 240-pound pass rusher committed to the Irish Sunday afternoon. Sulfsted is a solid prospect, as he is ranked as the No. 608 overall prospect and the No. 60 defensive lineman according to the 247Sports Composite Ratings.

It was an extremely quick turnaround for Sulfsted, as he was leaning toward Duke or Wisconsin, but when the Irish offered on Sunday, he couldn’t say no. He is No. 21 out of Notre Dame, which continues to hold the top spot in the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings.

Although the Irish have the No. 1 seed, don’t expect them to keep it until signing day. The four teams behind them have 11 to 15 commits each and are not far behind Notre Dame.
