Big changes are coming college football in 2024. One of them is the recently approved proposal to allow a player on a team to have direct communication with coaches. Quarterbacks are poised to benefit from this additional technology approval.

football scoop told more about the story, quoting Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock on what the changes will mean:

“The kids like it because it keeps me from yelling at everyone because I have to talk to the quarterback,” Denbrock said two weeks before Notre Dame ended its spring camp. “I think it has some advantages, some quick reminders to the quarterback as soon as you get the call, as long as I don’t stutter too much in the headset, I think it helps them.

“Especially young quarterbacks. [Saying] ‘Hey, based on the game plan, let’s keep our eyes on the weak side’ or whatever it is. Give them something to help them on their journey to perform the piece right. I think that’s helpful, and I think getting them the play and the information as early as possible on the game clock gives them a chance to settle in and get everyone else in line.”
