Rebuilding the defensive room is a priority for LSU coach Brian Kelly and defensive line coach Bo Davis.
Kelly emphasized the Tigers’ need on the interior defensive line on multiple occasions. LSU hired a good high school class and landed some transfers, but Guilherme Jacobiano is the only returner with significant experience.
As LSU looks to add more talent to the room in its 2025 class, On3’s Chad Simmons recorded a prediction for LSU to land a three-star defensive tackle Xavier Ukponu. Simmons is the second On3 analyst to predict LSU as the winner after Billy Embody recorded an LSU pick last month.
Along with LSU, Ukponu’s demonstrated interest in Arkansas, Texas It is Florida throughout his recruitment, but the Tigers appear to be in a good position.
Ukponu is 6-foot-3, 390 pounds and has three stars from every major recruiting service. Rivals is Ukponu’s biggest talent, ranking him as the 33rd best defensive tackle in the class.
LSU’s Class of 2025 ranks second in the nation, according to On3. The Tigers have 11 commits, including Bryce Underwood, the highest-ranked recruit in the country. The class has some offensive firepower, but the team hopes to make some important additions on defense.
Continuing the flow of talent in the defensive room is critical for LSU to return to the standard it once had on the defensive side of the ball.
