Michigan State football earns three-star California OL Drew Nichols

First year Michigann State football coach Jonathan Smith returned West to take on the Spartans’ second commitment so far this summer.

Three-star offensive lineman Drew Nichols of Southern California’s Murrieta Valley announced his commitment to the Spartans on social media Monday. He committed after taking an official visit to East Lansing last weekend, according to 247Sports, and picked other MSU schools like Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA and Boise State.

The 6-foot-2, 270-pound Nichols is the 1,220th-ranked recruit in the 247Sports Composite Rankings for 2025 Recruiting Class. He is the nation’s No. 96 interior offensive lineman and the No. 97 recruit in his class in California. Nichols is MSU’s seventh commitment for 2025 and the second from Golden State, joining three-star quarterback Leo Hannan of Anaheim.

The Spartans ended the weekend with two commitments. Three-star wide receiver Braylon Collier committed to MSU on Friday, followed by Nichols. According to 247, Nichols was primarily recruited by new MSU offensive line coach Jim Michalczik.
