Southwest Airlines adds additional Ohio vs. Oregon flights

Big college football is big business and not just for those who are participating or reaping the rewards of ticket and gate revenue. It has tentacles that can extend further than you imagine into other sectors.

We have an example that came from the Southwest Airlines office last week. With the addition of West Coast teams Oregon, washington, UCLAIt is USC For the Big Ten, travel will become more important, not only for players and support staff, but also for fans.

Southwest Airlines is interested in all of this because the company offered a press release to add flights for fans looking to get from Columbus to Eugene for the big showdown on Saturday, Oct. 12, along with other destinations for big college football games this fall. The added flights are Columbus to/from Portland on Friday, October 11th and Sunday, October 13th.

Other games for which Southwest has added additional flights include:

• LSU vs. USC on September 1 in Las Vegas (New Orleans to/from Las Vegas)

• Texas at the Michigan on September 7th (Austin to/from Detroit)

• Alabama at the Wisconsin on September 14 (Birmingham to/from Milwaukee)

• Tennessee at the Oklahoma on September 21 (Nashville to/from Oklahoma City)

• Georgia at Texas on October 19 (Atlanta to/from Austin)

So if you’re already making travel plans, you might want to take advantage of these deals instead of waiting until the last minute and scrambling to make everything happen.
