O 2024 college football season yet stayMondayThat’s a long way off, but we’re quickly approaching Week 0.
Each week, things move faster and faster as football approaches. Summer tends to go by quickly, especially when you think about football. At this time of year, sports media start releasing pre-season material left and right. Some are rankings, some are record projections and some are first All-Americans.
The most recent we saw noteworthy, it is Athlon Sports College Football 2024 Team All-American. Two Tigers were named Athlon Sports All-Americans, with linebacker Barrett Carter being a first-team defensive selection.
Carter, a key player to the Tigers and a potential early pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, it surprised many people when he returned to Clemson. The young linebacker is committed to developing the program and improving his draft stock in the 2025 class. Last season, Carter excelled in 11 games, earning second on the team with 59 tackles and third on the team with nine tackles for loss, as well as three sacks. It was significant news that got fans really excited.
On offense, it’s offensive tackle Blake Miller, who was named fourth-team Offensive All-American. This one intrigues me as the 2023 season hasn’t been the friendliest for Miller.
While he wasn’t bad, it would be hard to argue that he didn’t take a step back after an excellent freshman season. The talent is there and that is probably the reason for this selection. His ceiling is tremendous.
