Jackson State football coach TC Taylor should be familiar with the daily media grind by now as he enters his second season.
SWAC Media Day is scheduled for July 16 at the Sheraton-Birmingham hotel in Birmingham, Alabama.
Jackson State, which went 7-4 last season, is trying to take back the SWAC championship from national black college champion Florida A&M.
Joining Taylor at media day will be two-time All-SWAC offensive lineman Evan Henry and defensive end Esaias Guthrie.
Henry will be the unquestioned leader on the offensive line this season with the departure of first-team All-SWAC offensive lineman Deontae Graham.
Henry moved from right guard in 2022 to center in 2023. The 6-foot-3, 325-pounder was named second-team All-SWAC last season for the second time in his career, helping the Tigers lead the SWAC. averaging 389.4 yards of total offense in 2023.
Guthrie, who is 6-1 and 183 pounds, will return to the defensive backfield that led the SWAC in interceptions with 17 last season. Jackson State ranked fourth in the conference in total defense, giving up 335.8 yards per game.
Jackson State will begin its 2024 season at the University of Louisiana-Monroe on Aug. 29 (6 p.m. CT, ESPN+).
