The Wisconsin Badgers have a 15th-ranked defense in the soon-to-be-released EA Sports College Football 25 video game.
The Badgers have an overall rating of 86 tied with Virginia Tech USC It is Auburn in the 14-17 range of the game’s power rankings.

EA Sports’ defensive ratings differ greatly from ESPN SP+ and most other metrics entering the season. The Badgers have the No. 7 SP+ defense in 2024, although they only have an 86 overall rating. USC, meanwhile, has the No. 87 SP+ defense at the start of the season, but also has an 86 rating in the video game.
Another notable classification disagreement is Nebraska in 6th place on ESPN SP +, but falls outside the top 25 on EA Sports.
The full 25 rankings are important for gameplay, but they don’t seem to be a great reflection of what’s to come on the football field this fall.
Wisconsin’s defense is the team’s clear strength heading into the season, regardless of its position in the soon-to-be-released video game. The unit returns stars S Hunter Wohler, CB Ricardo Hallman and most of their 2023 secondary, plus additional impact transfers including ILB Jaheim Thomas, OLB John Pius, OLB Leon Lowery and DL Brandon Lane.
Team performance will be judged on a steep curve with the dynamic attacks of Alabama, Oregon, Penn State and USC, all on schedule. But while the Badgers’ offensive identity has changed, the program’s defensive strength should remain in the future.
