Three appointment cancellations in the space of nine days is a worrying trend for USC soccer. The latest came on Thursday from four stars Hylton Stubbs.
The loss of Stubbs, a four-star at Mandarin (Jacksonville, Fla.), is especially difficult for USC given the player’s rating – Stubbs is the 17th-ranked safety prospect in the country.
Some of what’s happening is natural for a blue-blood program like USC. The Trojans are recruiting at a high level and all of the uncommitted players were players with strong offer lists.
This means that, despite their verbalization, this type of player will be highly sought after. High risk, but high reward for USC. They will lose some players, as happened last month.
But they will, under coach Lincoln Riley, win many of those battles in the coming weeks.
Here are USC’s three uncommitted players this month:

Underscoring how much this hurts for USC is that all three recruits were top-100 players in the country, according to 247Sports. Gibson (No. 12 prospect in the country) and Terry (No. 17).
Stubbs is the No. 99 player in the country.
As for your current recruits, USC has the 31st recruiting class in the country. Its main engagement, Julian Lewis, has danced with several major programs across the country, including Auburn It is Colorado.
Steve Wiltfong, national recruiting analyst for On3, believes Lewis is more likely to fulfill his commitment to USC. Lewis is a five star and the #16 recruit in the country.
