Micah Hach of Watertown commits to South Dakota State football and wrestling

WATERTOWN – Future Micah Hach was a two-sport standout at Watertown High School during the 2023-24 season and hopes to do the same at South Dakota State University.

The 6-foot-2, 290-pound football and wrestling standout announced on his X (formerly known on Twitter) account that he had committed to the Jackrabbits.

In a statement, Hach wrote:

“First, I want to thank my Lord and Savior for blessing me with this opportunity. I want to thank everyone who dedicated themselves to me and helped me get to where I am now: my parents, my sisters, my football coaches and my wrestling coaches. .

“I want to thank those I competed against and who encouraged me to be who I am. To all the teammates I’ve had over the years who helped me grow. I want to thank all the coaches who recruited me and gave me an experience that few will have opportunity to receive. I am proud and grateful to announce that I will be Jackrabbit!!!”

Hach has been a three-year standout on the Watertown wrestling team, twice earning All-Eastern South Dakota Conference honors.

He went 41-15 as a freshman and placed third at 220 pounds at the 2022 Class A state tournament. As a sophomore, he went 44-5 and placed second at 285. Last winter, he compiled a record of 47-2 with 40 falls and again finished second at 285 behind Navarro Schunke of Brandon Valley, who became the state’s first class A wrestler who won five state titles.

Schunke, an offensive lineman, signed to play football at Division I Kansas State. Hach completed his freshman season last fall with the Watertown High School football team and earned Class 11AA All-State and All-ESD honors as a defensive lineman. Hach, who also played on the Arrows’ offensive line, was involved in 45 tackles on defense.

Hach is projected to be an offensive lineman for the Jackrabbits.
