OU to SEC celebration schedule, live updates on Sooners’ move to Southeastern Conference

NORMAN — When the clock struck midnight on Monday morning, OU officially became a member of the Southeastern Conference.

Hundreds of fans participating in the glittering 5K race across campus crossed the finish line at the 50-yard line inside Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium and watched fireworks shoot from the scoreboard. O Earlier sold new SEC products and the line to buy clothes rolled up in the field.

SEC logos were painted at Owen Field and one was displayed in the press box.

OU will host activities throughout the day on Monday, including the Paul Finebaum Show, pep rallies and live music.

OU-SEC celebration schedule for July 1st

  • “Wake up in the SEC” in OKC and Tulsa: OU will hold commemorative events in the two largest cities in the state, from 8 am to 9:30 am. The Oklahoma City event will be held at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill in Bricktown (310 Johnny Bench Dr.) and will feature Harroz, athletic director Joe Castiglione and other OU guests, including head coaches. The Tulsa event will be at Mother Road Market (1124 S. Lewis Ave.) and will include OU alumnus Dari Nowkhah of the SEC Network, OU Vice President Susan Bynum, Barry Switzer, Sooner Schooner and other guests. The Pride of Oklahoma band and OU Spirit will be at both locations.

  • Earlier the Schooner Roadshow ends: The “Sooner Schooner Roadshow”, a road trip that takes Sooner Schooner, his ponies and OU members RUF/NEKS and RUF/NEK Lil’ Sis to SEC cities, ends with stops in Tulsa and Oklahoma City before making one final stop that night at the Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

  • Exciting Rallies in Norman: From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Pride of Oklahoma and OU Spirit will lead demonstrations in seven different Norman business districts.

  • Summer Gear Sale: The sale of equipment, shoes, clothing and other items will take place from 2pm to 7pm at the Mosier Indoor Track Facility. Merchandise includes football helmets, jerseys, cleats, Jordan and Nike brand apparel and footwear, cold-weather gear, baseball equipment (including bats), work shirts from most sports, and televisions up to 55 inches.

  • SEC Network Schedule: The SEC Network will broadcast from the stadium from 2pm to 8pm, including “The Paul Finebaum Show” from 2pm to 6pm. The first 300 fans at the show’s opening will receive a free OU x SEC t-shirt. “SEC Now: Live from Oklahoma” will air from 6pm to 8pm on the north side inside the stadium, with Nowkhah and Alyssa Lang as hosts. Other SEC Network representatives include former OU defensive lineman Dusty Dvoracek. The SEC Network open house will include live games, studio programming, original content and more.

  • Party at the Palace: The event will end with the “Party at the Palace” on the field from 5pm. Fans will have the opportunity to enter Owen Field through the Sooners’ team tunnel and the event will feature live music, a basketball court, bounce house, obstacle course, face painting, balloon artist, game trailer, mechanical bull, photo booth and much more. Live music will be performed inside the stadium from 7pm to 9:30pm, followed by a pep rally. The event will close with a drone show at 9:50 pm above the south zone.
