It’s official. The Oklahoma Sooners are members of the Southeastern Conference. A change that has been in the works for three years is taking place as the University of Oklahoma and the SEC mark the occasion with a celebration in Norman on Monday.

The OU Athletic Department’s social media department has been hard at work creating content to celebrate Oklahoma’s introduction to its new conference counterparts. And they made every effort.

Oklahoma alumnus Ed Harris chronicled the journey that Sooner Schooner visited campuses across the SEC. In the video, Harris dons the black cowboy hat and suit, similar to the one he wore in the HBO sci-fi hit Westworld, while saying, “Saddle up, partner, this is SEC country.”

It’s the kind of star power needed for such a momentous occasion, when one of the most storied athletic departments in the history of college sports heads southeast toward the largest conference in the country.
