Oklahoma State football running back Ollie Gordon II was arrested on drunken driving charges Sunday morning, according to multiple reports.

As first reported by News at 6 on Monday night — citing a probable cause statement from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol — Gordon was stopped on Interstate 35 near Moore, south of Oklahoma City, after a trooper reported that Gordon was driving 82 mph in a red zone. speed of 65 mph and was swerving into traffic.

Gordon reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.11 and 0.10 when tested twice in prison. The legal alcohol consumption limit in the state of Oklahoma is 0.08.

According to additional reports from the Oklahoma City-based company KOCO, the officer who stopped Gordon around 2:30 a.m. reported smelling “an odor associated with an alcoholic beverage” from Gordon, who is 20 years old. Gordon reportedly denied drinking, saying he had been around friends who did. He then refused to take a field sobriety test before telling the officer he had consumed an alcoholic beverage.

The officer then allegedly asked Gordon if he had alcohol in the vehicle, to which Gordon responded that he had two open containers of alcohol. The officer then reported finding “a bottle half full of vodka lemonade and a bottle half full of tequila,” according to the report.

The officer again asked Gordon if he would do a field sobriety test, which he again refused. He was then arrested on complaints of DUI under 21, transporting an open container of alcohol, failing to manage a single lane of traffic and speeding 16 to 20 mph over the speed limit.

Statement from the State of Oklahoma

When reached by USA TODAY Network for comment on Gordon’s alleged arrest, an Oklahoma State spokesperson said the university is aware of the situation but has no further comment at this time.

Gordon, listed as a junior on the Oklahoma State football roster, is coming off a season in which he won the Doak Walker Award as the nation’s top running back. The Fort Worth, Texas, native is coming off a breakout season in which he rushed 285 times for 1,732 yards (6.1 yards per attempt) and 21 touchdowns.
