One of the biggest recruiting developments of the 2025 cycle is set to go down tomorrow as the top-ranked wide receiver, Dakorien Moorewill announce his commitment on Thursday, July 4th at 8pm CT.

The Duncanville (Texas) standout and No. 4 overall prospect must choose between Texas, LSU, OregonIt is Ohio State.

With 24 hours until his decision is announced, Rivals ranks the candidates for LSU’s one-time commitment.

1. Texas

Even when Moore was committed to LSU, there were always rumors that the Longhorns would go for the eventual winner of his draft. When Moore opened his recruitment, they were immediately seen as top candidates. There may have been some changes among other candidates during their official visits, but Texas still appears to be the best option on the board.

The offense that Steve Sarkisian built in Austin and the future of the quarterback room lend Sarkisian and the Texas program to attract top wide receiver prospects in each recruiting cycle.

One of the most intriguing aspects of Moore’s recruitment also favors Texas. Moore has several family members who live in and around the Austin area and his family has long been involved in his recruiting process, including nearly his entire family on his recent official visit to Texas.

As the Longhorns move up to the SEC and appear poised for long-term success in the sport’s top ranks, they appear to remain Moore’s favorite.

2. Oregon

Of the four leading contenders, Oregon was seemingly the program that gained the most traction in the previous months. Moore was in Eugene two weeks ago for what was his last official visit. Just as Texas is trending upward in college football nationally, Oregon is right alongside them. Dan Lanning turned the Ducks into a recruiting monster, especially among elite talent.

The visit to Oregon in June was only his second time on campus, so the experience was much needed for Moore and his family. Moore’s mother told Rivals that the visit was crucial for Dakorien and her family to learn about everyday life in Oregon and everything related to life in Eugene.

Like most in this race, Oregon can certainly compete in the NIL department as well as life after football and the resources available. Although Texas was the biggest uproar, many say Oregon is not excluded.

3. Ohio State

Ohio State will be on the list for any wide receiver they want. The program has a legitimate claim to being the ‘Wide Receiver U’ in this generation, releasing first-round picks annually. The main reason for that, wide receivers coach and offensive coordinator Brian Hartline took a chance on Moore in late May on an official visit.

Being his first referee, Moore and his family said the Buckeyes “raised the bar.” The academic plan that Ohio State was able to present was also an important takeaway from the visit.

While Ohio State could be considered a prime spot for a talented receiver like Moore, they may not have been able to do enough in this run.

4. State University of New York

Moore was previously committed to LSU, from August 2023 to May 2024. Following his decommitment, there was some uncertainty as to whether Moore was still considering the Tigers in his recruitment. But just weeks after beginning his recruitment, Moore returned to Baton Rouge for an official visit, a visit that Moore’s mother, Marjahn, said was a great experience. However, it is very difficult to ignore that his cancellation of commitments is still quite recent and that several official visits have been carried out since then.

So even though LSU impressed down the stretch and has the commitment of the nation’s No. 1 quarterback, bringing Moore back presents itself as a very challenging task.
