Red River Rivalry receives high rating from CBS Sports

When the 2024 college football season begins, the SEC will look a little different. The conference now includes two former Big 12 powers, Texas Longhorns It is Oklahoma earlier. As a result, the conference is home to one of the biggest rivalries in college football, which many fans will highlight in the schedule.

CBS Sports ranked the top rivalries in the SEC, with the Longhorns and Sooners taking the top spot. In the last decade, the rivalry has been full of fireworks because they are always competitive. Neither team has played four consecutive games in the series since 2004. Eight of the last ten clashes have been decided by a single score.

Through 119 games, Texas leads the all-time series 63-51-5. On Oct. 12, Oklahoma will have a chance to add to the win column when the Longhorns visit Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The last time these programs met, Oklahoma came away with a 34-30 victory in a matchup between two 5-0 teams.

While Texas and Oklahoma have everything a college football rivalry wants, CBS Sports highlighted some other notable rivalries. The list included Alabama vs. Auburn, Mississippi State vs. Ole Miss and Florida vs. Georgia.

This year’s Texas-Oklahoma game will give SEC fans a first-hand look at one of college football’s best rivalries. Although the season is still weeks away, fans are counting down the days until these shows reunite.
