LSU has seen its position in the 2025 recruiting rankings drop a bit in recent weeks, but has gained plenty of momentum heading into the Fourth of July weekend.
The Tigers made a trio of commitments culminated in the addition of four-star EDGE Damien Shanklin, who committed to the Tigers on Friday. Indianapolis prospect Shanklin is the No. 86 player in the country, according to On3.
Notre Dame was trending toward Shanklin for a while, but LSU was the favorite in the end, aided by a successful official visit in June. He joins recently signed defensive linemen Zion Williams It is Brandão Brownthe last of which was also committed on Friday after abandoning the SEC’s new nemesis Texas.
Shanklin gives LSU its 15th commitment in the 2025 recruiting class, which was ranked second earlier this month but has fallen with some recent decommitments, particularly from the five-star receiver Dakorien Moore and four-star cornerback Jaborée Antoine.
But with Shanklin and the other recent commitments now on board, this class ranks sixth nationally according to 247Sports and fourth by On3.
