Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Michigan Football The program will have a tight end selected in the NFL draft for the third year in a row when Colston Loveland is inevitably signed.

While he’s still a few years away from doing it himself, perhaps in the future UM will add the name Andrew Olesh to the list of former Maize and Blue tight ends to head to the league. The four-star recruit from Center Valley, Penn. (Southern Lehigh) pledged to join the Wolverines on Monday night, according to a report by Hayes Fawcett.

He was the second commitment in an hour for the Wolverines, who also successfully brought down safety Ivan Taylor, son of former Super Bowl champion Ike Taylor, from Notre Dame on Monday.

Olesh was a priority recruit for UM. He was ranked as the No. 3 player in Pennsylvania, the No. 5 tight end in the country and the No. 130 overall prospect in the class of 2025, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Michigan resisted a furious push by Alabama to secure the commitment. He also visited Florida and Penn State in the weeks leading up to his trip to Ann Arbor in late June that clinched the decision.

Olesh, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 200 pounds, currently plays wide receiver but has a frame that projects as a tight end at the next level. According to his profile, he had 53 receptions for 972 yards and 10 touchdowns his junior season.

It’s a notable achievement for Michigan’s new tight ends coach, Steve Casula, who had help from former head offensive line coach Grant Newsome, as UM certainly appears poised to lose Loveland next season.

A four-star during his high school days, Loveland is widely projected to be a first-round pick next April when the draft heads to Green Bay.

He would follow in the footsteps of AJ Barner (2024, fourth round) and Luke Schoonmaker (2023, second round) and could be the first UM tight end taken in the opening round since Paul Seymour (1973) went No. 7 overall to the Buffalo Bills for over 50 years.

Michigan now has 15 rising senior prospects and now has the 11th recruiting class in the country.
