LSU continues to grow its 2025 recruiting class and on Saturday landed a commitment from four-star safety Destrehan Jhase Thomas.

Thomas committed to the in-state Tigers over Houston, Ole Miss and Colorado. A player who only came on LSU’s radar late in the cycle and only received an offer in June, Thomas told On3’s Chad Simmons that It was his dream to play in Baton Rouge.

“Being a Louisiana kid, his dream is to get the LSU offer,” Thomas said. “It’s a dream you grow up with, so to be able to have the opportunity to go to that school is a dream come true. It was always a dream of mine that I wanted to fulfill.”

Thomas received an offer at LSU’s elite camp, and although he took several official visits after that, he reportedly told the coach Brian Kelly upon being offered that he would be a Tiger. He told On3 that he is optimistic about the program’s trajectory.

“I feel like we’re definitely going to be a national championship team this year,” Thomas said. “We will still be one when I get there.”

He added that Kelly is a strong leader, but also someone he enjoys being around.

“He’s a very calm coach,” Thomas said. “…He has a very good personality. It can light up a room, for sure. He’s a really funny guy and a great coach. We have been building our relationship since the first day he contacted me. He texts me and calls me every day. We keep in touch and talk about football and life in general.”

LSU’s Class of 2025, which has 16 total commitments with Thomas now on board, is ranked No. 6 nationally by 247Sports and No. 5 by On3.
